The German event- and booking agency, FKP Scorpio, has grown from having only two employees to now being an event-giant with 80 members of staff – among other things arranging 16 festivals in 5 European countries plus tours for upcoming as well as international superstars. Folkert Koopmans will – in the light of FKP Scorpio’s expansion – talk about entrepreneurship in the live music industry.

Folkert Koopmans: Besides the planning and execution of national concerts in Northern Germany, FKP Scorpio promotes the most popular German Open Air Festivals – among others the Hurricane, the Southside, the Highfield, the Chiemsee Summer, The Rolling Stone Weekender and the Metal Hammer Paradise. They also promote concerts in Switzerland (Greenfield festival), Sweden (Getaway Rock and Bråvalla), The Netherlands (Indian Summer and Best Kept Secret) and Denmark (NorthSide). 

In 2011 Folkert Koopmans was honoured as “Promoter Of The Year” and in 2013 he received the Arthur Award as the “Promoter’s Promoter” at the 25th International Live Music Conference.

Allan McGowan: Allan McGowan has some forty years of experience in the advertising, music and entertainment industries. He has worked in record retail, and as a concert promoter, artist manager, and booking agent. He has regularly presented and moderated panels and acted as an Agenda Consultant for many major international trade events, including the International Live Music Conference (ILMC)in London. At present he is News Editor for Vip News, an on-line data and news service for the live music industry, and Associate Editor of IQ Magazine – the journal of the ILMC He also administrates music publishing company Wintrup Songs Ltd.
