D.I.Y. has become “the New Black”, and musicians nowadays release their own music at (on) the digital platforms – nationally as well as internationally. On this basis the panel will discuss ways for musicians today to interact and communicate with their fans all through the year – outside the traditional “three-months-of-album-campaigning cycle”.

Scott Cohen is the co-founder of digital distribution pioneer The Orchard. As a well-recognized public speaker and lecturer, Scott travels the world evangelizing new business models for the digital age and sits on the BPI Council. In addition to his responsibilities at The Orchard, he manages the Raveonettes, the Dum Dum Girls, the Deer Tracks, Queen Kwong, Bleech and Fallulah.

Lucy Blair: As Partner at digital marketing agency Motive Unknown, Lucy delivers digital strategy and campaigns for clients including Sony RED, Houndstooth and Propeller Recordings. Prior to joining Motive Unknown, Lucy was Digital Mar-keting Manager at dance music label Anjunabeats and at Ministry of Sound, where she developed award-winning digital campaigns for the world-famous MoS brand.

Olivier de Simone is VP of Business Development at Urturn, he has been developing the company’s music initiative bringing some of the leading artists on the platform such as One Direction, Miley Cyrus, Britney Spears, Kendrick Lamar, David Bowie and many more to engage their audiences and deliver the most disruptive experiences for fans. 
Olivier started his career in the late 90’s as a member of Hip-Hop Band Averse De Soleil, performing with the likes of Snoop Doggy Dog, Warren G, The Pharcyde and Ice-T before co-founding Internet licensing service Biz4Music in 2000 and managing Brazilian artist Céu. In 2004 Olivier joined The Orchard as first European partner and developed France Belgium Switzerland before being promoted to VP of European Operations.

Karim Fanous is Head of Research at Music Ally. At Music Ally we love music, and we love tech. We believe that these worlds should not be battling each other and so our mission for the past ten years has remained the same: to explore ways that the two worlds can work profitably together. Their clients are from both the music and the tech world, among others: Spotify, Deezer, Google and Microsoft.
