With ironic darkness Spillemændene challenges Danish national symbols. Nicolai Elsberg’s deep intense voice gives life to Thorbjørn Radisch Bredkjær’s Danish lyrics, and on the sound-side Spillemændene builds bridges between old folk and ballad traditions and dark indie rock, and the musical landscape gives room for both saw and synth. In 2012 Nikolaj Nørlund produced their debut EP Spillemandsbogen.
