In the wake of the Egyptian revolution a new kind of electronic music rises from the slums of Cairo, Electro Chaabi, which is an energetic mix of traditional Arabian music and hip hop. For the young Egyptians it is the soundtrack of the revolution and a cleansing after years of social division, corruption, and political oppression. Electro Chaabi is uplifting and eye-opening musically as well as politically. The screening on Sunday will be followed by a Q&A with Hind Meddeb.
