Three new Nordic documentaries added to the SPOT Film lineup. The documentaries can be seen for free at Godsbanen and in Øst for Paradis.

In one of its four film programs SPOT Film focuses on the best new Nordic film productions in both fiction and documentary. The best movie will be awarded and receive a prize during the last day of SPOT film at the 4th of may in Øst for Paradis.
The films will also be displayed for free at Godsbanen and in Øst for Paradis during the 2nd till 4th of may, several of them will be presented by the director.

The first, ‘Portrait of a Lone Farmer’, takes the audience to a small remote village in Nigeria, where the instructor, Danish/Nigerian Jide Tom Akinleminu, seeks out his father, whom he hasn’t seen in five years. He lives a simple life as a chicken farmer, and through Akinleminus beautiful, almost meditative film language – his background as a cinematographer cannot be denied – we become witness to restoring family ties.

Broken family ties also play a role in Danish-Palestinian Mahdi Fleifels ‘A World Not Ours’, which is rare and moving, but at the same time a liberating and humorous documentary about life in a Palestinian refugee camp in Lebanon. For the instructor the camp is synonymous to happy childhood holiday memories, but these memories don’t apply to the remaining family members, for whom the camp will always be a world that is not theirs. ‘ A World Not Ours ‘ comes to SPOT with already featuring a couple of international awards, including the prestigious Peace Film Award at the Berlin Film festival.

From one homeless person to another: in ‘Pine Ridge’ Swedish Director Anna Eborn introduces a poetic honest group of young Native Americans and their lives and dreams in Indian territory, Pine Ridge, which is the poorest region in the United States. Pine Ridge was selected for the Venice Film festival and has just won best Nordic documentary at the Gothenburg Film Festival.
‘’If Terrence Mallick shoot a documentary, it would look like this’’ – Way too Indie

Another seven films will be announced during April.
