SPOT MUSIC, FILM & INTERACTIVE
Festival Date: May 1st – 4th, 2014
Submission Deadline: March 17th, 2014

The 20th version of SPOT Festival – one of Scandinavia’s most important showcase music festivals – will take place in Aarhus, Denmark from May 1st to May 4th 2014.
For the second time, SPOT Festival includes a Film & Interactive element.
SPOT Film has a focus on new Nordic talents working in fiction, documentary & cross-media, music film & music videos.

SPOT Film includes three main categories:
1. SPOT The Film – fiction and documentary films by Nordic film talents
2. SPOT The Music – music films (both fiction and documentary) from all over the worl
3. SPOT The Video – music videos from all over the world

SPOT Film furthermore offers additional film programmes, pitching sessions, seminars, and Q&As with filmmakers.
The screenings will take place on the festival site and in the cinema Øst For Paradis in downtown Aarhus.

ENTRY REQUIREMENTS
1. The submission deadline is March 17th 2014.
2. All genres are accepted in SPOT The Film.
3. Films for SPOT The Music must have a relation to music.
4. SPOT The Video is a music video programme.
5. The running time of the submitted films for SPOT The Film must be minimum 20 minutes INCLUDING credits.
6. There are no time limitations for SPOT The Music and SPOT The Video.
7. Films must have been completed on or after January 1st 2012.
8. SPOT The Film is a SPOT Film competition and is only open for Nordic filmmakers (the director or the producer must have Nordic citizenship.
9. SPOT Film only accepts online digital submissions, and films for pre-selection must be uploaded via our website. You are also welcome to submit your film with a link to an online version of the film.
10. You are welcome to upload rough cuts/work in progress of your film, but please make it clear if the submitted version of the film is not final.
11. Films with dialogue in other languages than Danish or English must be subtitled in either English or Danish.
12. Films which have been shown or awarded at any other international film festivals can also compete.
13. Promotional films will not be accepted (e.g. educational, industrial, advertising, tourist films, etc.)
14. Participants must ensure that they have the right to participate in SPOT Film with regard to third persons connected with the production of the participating film.

SUBMISSION PROCEDURE
1. Download and fill out this application form (.docx file – text fields must be filled out using MS Word)
2. Upload application form and your film in the upload box below
3. Wait for submission receipt

After you have completed your online submission and successfully uploaded your film, you will receive a submission receipt. If you have not received your receipt, please contact the festival office to ensure that the submission has been successful. You can choose to upload a low quality screening copy of your film but a high quality version will be required for cinema-screening if your film is selected for the festival. SELECTION
SPOT Film will appoint a selection committee that will be in charge of the final selection for the competition. Entrants will be notified of the selection results no later than April 7th 2014.

IF YOUR FILM IS SELECTED
If your film is selected, a final version of your film must be uploaded no later than April 21st 2014.
SPOT Film cannot guarantee screening of films uploaded later than this date.

SPOT Film offers accreditation for Spot Music, Film & Interactive and accommodation for either the director or producer of the selected films.

APPROVED FORMATS
For the screening version of your film, you need to upload a file with the following specifications:

File format: .mp4
Codec: H.264
Video: 1920×1080 pixels, progressive, 25 fps, minimum target bitrate 16 Mbps
Audio: AAC, 48000Hz Stereo, 192 kbps

In special cases SPOT Film also accept screening versions in Blueray and DCP formats. Please contact the festival regarding other formats.

JURIES AND PRIZES
SPOT Music, Film & Interactive will nominate a jury.
The jury will award the SPOT The Film prize + possible special mentions.

FESTIVAL SCREENINGS
1. If your film is selected for SPOT Film, it will be screened 1-4 times during the festival.
2. SPOT Film has the right to refuse or cancel screenings of any films if advised by the responsible technicians, in the case of an inadequate quality. This is to ensure satisfactory public screening.
3. Some of the festival venues are not cinemas but black box venues equipped with a projector and a professional sound system. SPOT Film cannot guarantee specific screening requirements (like surround sound, Dolby etc.) but we do our best to give your film the best screening conditions.

AGREEMENT
By the submission of your film, you automatically agree to the following:
1. A short excerpt (max. 3 minutes) of your film can be included in a radio, TV or video programme presented by SPOT Music, Film & Interactive.
2. Furthermore, you give SPOT Festival the permission to consider your film to any awards that may be made in connection to the festival.
3. You confirm that all film and music rights and clearances have been obtained (in accordance with copyright laws).
4. You verify that you will not withdraw your film from SPOT Music, Film & Interactive after the selection by the selection committee.

VOD
SPOT Film cooperates with MusicFilmWeb in making the selected films available online for VOD streaming. Please mark in the application form if you want to be contacted by MusicFilmWeb about VOD streaming in connection to SPOT Film.
